What I see is mental laziness. Mental laziness is the reason why in our 19 year post military era, Nigerians (youths and elders alike) elected the same former military rulers as presidents and they have ruled for 11 years out of 19 years.
It is reason why we don’t even understand our problems. It is the reason why we accept that anybody in uniform can whip you koboko because he is wearing uniform. It is the reason the carelessness of a doctor that leads to the death of your relative or friend is left to go like that and termed Gods will.
It is the reason we don’t ask further questions after we hear customs intercepts truck load of arms. It could also be the reason why we have many people from riverine communities but we can’t win any medal in international swimming or aquatic competitions.
Shey elections are coming, I’m sure the humans that will fill the numerous stadiums and fields to cheer the good, the bad and the ugly wont be ghosts or immigrants. Some will also snatch ballot boxes and maim others.
Mental laziness is the reason we think our leaders, pastors, imams, husbands and bosses are gods that should not be challenged or taken on. I was involved in a little student unionism in school and I know radical behaviour works sometimes.
MENTAL LAZINESS IS THE REASON WHY WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FACE OUR PROBLEMS HEADLONG AND FORCE A SOLUTION.
